Among the Apulian olive groves and vineyards

Day 1Welcome activities and walk in the historic town of Ruvo di Puglia followed by dinner in a typical restaurant and overnight stay at Casa Rubis (Ruvo di Puglia).

Day 2: Breakfast and departure for “Lama Reale” the largest and most majestic blade of the Murgia. Lunch in a farmhouse with tasting of typical Apulian products. In the afternoon walking through farms, jazzi, trulli and dry stone walls you reach San Magno where a necropolis of sepulchres has been brought to light, a destination for tourists from all over the world. Continuing the route, we ‘ll arrive to Castel del Monte, for a visit to the mysterious octagonal stone building built by Federico II near the church (now disappeared) of Saint Maria de Monte. In the evening, return to Ruvo di Puglia, dinner arranged by participants and overnight stay at Casa Rubis.

Day 3: (September): breakfast and transfer to  the countryside of Ruvo di Puglia, a few kilometres from Casa Rubis; here you can participate in the grapes harvesting activity, a fundamental moment in the Apulian production scenario. Thanks to the help of experts in the sector, it will be possible to know the key moments of the harvest ritual, the factors that determine a good harvest and the subsequent techniques. Stop for lunch at the farmhouse. Then, visit to the vinery to learn more about the stages of production of wine from Puglia. Possibility of buying typical products. In the evening, return to Ruvo di Puglia and time available for dinner by the participants and overnight at Casa Rubis.

Day 3: (late October & November): breakfast and transfer to a farm, located in the countryside of Ruvo di Puglia, a few kilometres from Casa Rubis; here you can participate in the olive harvesting activity, a fundamental moment in the Apulian production scenario. Thanks to the help of experts in the sector, it will be possible to know the key moments of the harvest ritual, the factors that determine a good harvest and the subsequent pressing techniques. Stop for lunch at the farmhouse. Then, visit to the mill to learn more about the stages of production of extra virgin olive oil from Puglia. Possibility of buying typical products. In the evening, return to Ruvo di Puglia and time available for dinner by the participants and overnight at Casa Rubis.

Day 4: breakfast and transfer to Alberobello, a location famous throughout the world, for the presence of characteristic buildings called “trulli”, declared UNESCO heritage. Transfer to Locorotondo for lunch tasting in the cellar, based on typical products and DOC wines, among the most renowned of the Apulian tradition. Afternoon at leisure for the free visit of Locorotondo, a city known for its wines and for its round-shaped historical center, from which its name derives, which means “round place”. In the evening, return to Ruvo di Puglia, dinner by the participants and overnight.

Day 5: Breakfast and end of tour.
