ORIENTEERING IN PUGLIA
WEEK OF THE SUN
1 - 5 SEPTEMBER 2012
The Week of the Sun races will take place on the Gargano promontory in whose heart extends the Umbra forest (covering 10.426 hectares). In the month of August they will be estabilished the embargoed areas. The competitions will be of different typologies, long distance race, relay race, urban races, forest races and training. As well as orienteering, many other recreational activities are available before, after and during the Week of the Sun.

EASTER 2012 IN APULIA: TOUR AND WEEKEND
Holy Week processions usually feature participants dressed in traditional costumes representing the personalities involved in the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.
Statues of the Madonna, dressed in mourning black until her son is risen, and also of Jesus are carried through town in processions that often last many hours, even an entire day; the faithful, often older women, may follow behind the procession barefoot to show their devotion.
EASTER HOLY WEEK IN APULIA 2012
In the night in the Ruvo di Puglia it's possible to see Easter procession of “Deposizione” known as procession of eight saints between the little street of ancient town.
In the first morning h. 3.30am in Molfetta it's possible to see Easter ritual known as procession of “cinque misteri” between the streets of ancient town;
Easter Sunday: Burst of Quarantane
In the Easter Sunday there is a parade of “Cristo Risorto”, showing Jesus resurrected, starts from S. Domenico church. During the parade the "Quarantana" is set off, as a propitiatory rite. "Quarantanas" are dummies looking like old women wearing a black dress. They remain hanged during the forty days before Easter on some cross-roads and represent Lent penitence. It is the victory of life over death.

SAGRA DEL FUNGO CARDONCELLO A RUVO DI PUGLIA
La sagra del fungo cardoncello ha come obiettivo la riscoperta di un prodotto tipico, presente in un territorio da valorizzare e tutelare, quello murgiano, lo stesso che lega Minervino Murge, Spinazzola e Ruvo di Puglia, protagoniste di quest’evento itinerante.
La sagra si svolge nel mese di novembre e prevede escursioni a tema sulla Murgia, visite guidate in città, lancio di palloni aerostatici; in serata degustazioni di vino novello, cavatelli con funghi cardoncelli, salsiccia e altri prodotti locali nei numerosi stand allestiti per l’occasione.
